To Mug, or Not To Mug
One of the more significant
non-recyclable materials in our society is Styrofoam.
However, the insulated hot drink paper cups cost three to
four times more than Styrofoam cups. To be a better steward
of our earthly resources, we are testing using ceramic mugs
for coffee and other drinks rather than Styrofoam cups. With
the loan of an attractive coffee mug tree from Knox Street
Market, mugs will be available next to the coffee machine in
the Servery across from "In a Nutshell".
The mugs are available for use
anywhere in the church and you may take them out of the
building if you will later return them or return
replacements. (Don't we all have extra cups around
somewhere?) If you don't have the time or inclination to
wash a mug after use, please leave it in the kitchen to be
washed with the next Creative School dishwashing. Styrofoam
cups will still be available if a mug is not for you.
The office staff will monitor
Styrofoam cup use and evaluate the test in late May.
Please direct your comments and
feedback on this test to Janet or Patti in the office.

TEA FOR $10 SCHOLARSHIPS
This year, in lieu of a garage
sale to raise money for Creative School Scholarships, the
Creative School Parent Council is asking members of the
Walnut Hill community to take a moment to enjoy a cup of tea
and write a check for $10 to support the Scholarship Fund.
In the past, the garage sale has generated between $700 -
$1,000. The Creative School Scholarship Committee, under the
leadership of Eleanor Anderson, is able to offer one or more
scholarships every year to families of young children in our
community. Gifts to the Scholarship Fund may be made in
honor or memory of a loved one. Make checks out to the
Creative School and designate your gift to the Scholarship
Fund on the memo line.

Class over 10 years ago. It meets on the 3rd Thursday of

Wheels, Income Tax Assistance to seniors, volunteering at
local hospitals, and by collecting donations for various
charities. Monthly meetings consist of committee reports, a

INTERESTED IN JOINING WALNUT HILL?
There are a number of ways that
you can become a member.

baptized and professing your faith. The United Methodist
Church recognizes the baptism of other Christian

a member of another United Methodist Church or another
denomination and would like Walnut Hill UMC to be your
church home. You join Walnut Hill UMC and we notify your

member of another United Methodist Church and would like to
retain your membership there, but Walnut Hill is where you
are worshipping and participating. You may join as an
affiliate member.
