Walnut Hill has always felt a special calling to its young. In the church’s hallways are images of children embraced by Jesus or welcomed and fed by loving hands. Through education, music, drama, worship and play, our  congregation seeks to extend that same canopy to the children who come within its care, forming them in the faith and allowing them to blossom in spirit as the foundation of lifelong faith is formed.

Sunday School:  An exciting and fun environment opens the door for children to learn the stories of the Bible and grow in faith. Classes are available for children three years of age by September 1st through sixth grade.  Classes meet on the second floor of the education wing.

Vacation Bible School:  For one week every summer, children gather to learn about the Bible through music, drama, recreation, service, and worship.

Confirmation:    "Claim the Name" is the theme for a power-filled, faith-forming experience for sixth graders at WHUMC.  This year-long adventure which nurtures a relationship with Jesus Christ, includes explorations of faith, church, worship, and service.  The class meets at 9:30 on Sundays and engages in field trips, retreats, and mission projects.  Claim the Name will be offered in the 2006-2007 school year.

Summer Camp for 3rd- 6th Grades:  A wonderful choir camp at Lake Bridgeport Conference Center provides a week-long experience of singing, praising God, and putting together a musical.  Another camp for elementary kids is at Lake Bridgeport for sharing fun, faith, and fellowship.  There is also a camp for children with special needs, whether physical or mental, called Summer Event for Exceptional Kampers (SEEK).  All these camps are sponsored by the North Texas Annual Conference.  For more info, call Jo Biggerstaff.
