Our children's ministry program is designed to celebrate the joy of childhood and the importance of family faith development. We know that spiritual grounding is essential as children grow and develop. We honor the individual needs of each child, offering an environment of support and encouragement. We also recognize that every child and family is unique and honor diversity in life, faith background and physical, mental and learning challenges.
We recognize that there are times parents struggle with how to answer those tough questions that only children ask.Our goal is to provide the whole family with the tools of the faith, by offering curriculum that is coordinated and multigenerational.
Here are some of the regular opportunities we offer in our children's programs:
We offer nursery care to children starting in infancy through preschool on Sunday mornings and Wednesday nights. Some groups arrange nursery care for special events as well. On Sunday morning, toddlers begin to learn the stories of the faith through our age-appropriate Deep Blue Kids curriculum.
Children's Sunday school meets every Sunday morning from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. We follow the exciting new approach to children’s ministry with the A Time for Children model from the book Blessed To Be A Blessing by the Rev. Dr. Leanne Hadley. Children reflect on a bible story and allow the Holy Spirit to speak to them from the story as well as experience the story through Trinity Stations of God the Creator, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit with a blessing at the end affirming that each child is from God and precious to God in every way.
Parents are asked to escort and pick up their child to classes located on the second floor in order to follow safe procedures. Each classroom has a minimum of two teachers, and all our teachers are trained in Ministry Safe procedures, going above and beyond to provide parents the assurance of the security of their children.
Kids in Mission
As United Methodists, we believe in living out our faith in the world. We offer monthly opportunities for families to do this together during the Sunday school hour. On the fourth Sunday of each month, all children and parents gather in the youth center for these missions. Seasonal Children's Events
Trunk or Treat
Bring your costume and treat bag for Trunk or Treat on the Sunday night before Halloween for this annual event. Trunks decorated in themes by our church members line our parking lot to create a safe place for kids to trick or treat. Events include our famous pig races, a cake walk, a bounce slide, and more fun and prizes.
Live Nativity and Christmas Carnival
Celebrate the true meaning of the season! Children are invited to put on costumes and visit the live animals that would have been present in the manger the night of Jesus' birth.
Christmas Gift-Making Workshop
Each year, children and their families are invited to attend a gift-making workshop. Stations are set up and children are guided in making handmade gifts. This is a great opportunity for children to create gifts and experience the true joy of the season in giving to others.
