What is Lent?
Lent is the season of the church year in which persons of faith bring their frailty and brokenness before God. Through prayer, study, reflection, fasting and alms, we find a renewal in our identity as children of God.
This practice stems from the ancient church, in which persons prepared for the resurrection of Easter by embarking upon the journey of Jesus in the wilderness of 40 days and nights to fast and pray.
We find ourselves renewed and refreshed by the simplicity of life in this sacred season.
Lent begins with Ash Wednesday
