Establishing membership at Walnut Hill United Methodist Church allows you to express your dedication to the highest ideals of Christian service and life.
When you become a member, you will be asked to respond to this vow of dedication:
Will you live out your discipleship at Walnut Hill United Methodist Church through your prayers, presence, gifts, service, and witness?"
What does this mean?
Prayers: you vow before the congregation to pray for them and for the needs of the world as part of your spiritual discipline.
Presence: you commit to be present regularly for worship, so you might spend time with the Lord in praise and gratitude on a consistent basis.
Gifts: you promise to share your financial gifts in order to ensure the mission of the Church continues. Whether your first fruits is 10%, less than that, or more than that, we recognize that giving is a blessing.
Service: you declare you will give of your time and energy in service to others, particularly to those who are suffering in poverty, injustice, and oppression.
Witness: you give your word to witness with deed and invitation to help grow the Church and share the love of God in the world.
Before you become a member, we ask you either become baptized (if you are new to the Christian faith) or affirm your baptism from another church. We welcome baptisms from other denominations, and we do not "re-baptize" into the Methodist faith, as we believe God's grace is sufficient to tie us all together.
Because we consider community so important, we feel it is vital to be part of a small group in the church. It might be a Sunday School class or an interest group, but we want you to find community, mutual support, and encouragement in the faith.
If you are new to the faith and want to be baptized or join the church, we invite you to reach out to the senior pastor, Rev. Alexandra Robinson, at [email protected].
