As I consider our sermon series for this month about how we share our faith, we must recognize that one of the most powerful parts of our witness is how we see God actively involved in our lives. Part of our ability to share our faith with others is articulating clearly how God has offered saving moments in our lives that are encouraging to others. This is a powerful witness, particularly when people might be wondering how God is active in their lives as well. As we share our faith story it might lead our listener to a deeper understanding of who God is and can be in theirs. Each life experience of God will be different from another person's but as we listen to one another we learn more about God and gain a different perspective on our lives.
Our Scripture reading this week if from Acts 11, and is Peter's recollection to the apostles of a vision proclaiming Gentiles be included in God's saving love through Jesus. This is a message the apostles struggle to hear, but when Peter tells them it is God's witness in his life, and the power of the Holy Spirit is at work, they are convinced. As a result of the Gentiles being included in the early Jesus movement, you and I get to hear the gospel. Do you see how one person's testimony of faith and experience of God can make a difference?
So what about you? If you were to share your life story with someone what would you say? How would you articulate God's activity in the moments of your life that could help build up someone else in the faith?
Be a witness this week,
