"Be An Angel" Christmas Luncheon and General Meeting 2015 Recap
The United Methodist Women had a very warm and festive General Meeting on December 1, 2015 in Fellowship Hall. We had over 40 members and guests in attendance. We were entertained by an ensemble of the Thomas Jefferson High School Band who played Christmas music for our listening pleasure. A special thanks to the TJ Alumni Assoc. for covering the fee for the district school bus to transport the kids!
We would like to thank Jo Biggerstaff, Mary Anne Harris, Lizbeth Harris, Beverly Keathley, and Pres Pimentel for decorating all the tables with angels and beautiful decorations, including the Memorial table in memory of Vallie Abernathy, Lu West, Brenda Witte and Mary Glaze. We’d also like to thank Ricky Hill for the room setup and help with cleanup.
Our heartfelt thanks to Sheila McLauchlin who prepared a wonderful meal with her team of elves helping to prepare, serve, and clean up the kitchen.
Thank you to Rev. Alexandra Robinson for leading our prayers and conducting our new board installation ceremony. Congratulations to Nora Betancourt as the new Assistant Treasurer, Sheila McLauchlin as the new Vice President who were installed on December 1, and to Becky Baird, our new Social Action Coordinator who will be installed by year’s end. Thank you to the ladies who have completed their terms of service on our Executive Committee, Rosie Taylor, Charlotte Jackson, and Mickey Greer.
Special congratulations to Jo Ann Leavitt and Tom Dawson, recipients of UMW’s Special Mission Recognition pins and certificates for their service to mission through their respective work with UMW and the church.
