Volunteer Opportunities

If you are looking for a way you can be a help to Walnut Hill UMC, check out our Volunteer Opportunities listed below.

Caregivers
A great team of men and women who give of their time to take communion to the homebound and visit with them – for information/interest, contact Barbara O’Neal at 972-241-6565.

Sanctuary Servants
Once a month (or more if you like), these servants help keep the church clean: light dusting, straightening books, filling the card holders/pencils, and making sure there are the correct number of Bibles and Hymnals in each pew. Contact Cindy Blair through the church offices, 214-357-5656,  for further information or interest.

Phone Receptionist
We need volunteers to answer the main church phone during the weekdays. Two shifts available: morning 9:00 – 12:00 and afternoon 12:30 – 3:00. You can work once a week or once a month, or have the option of being on our substitute list. Contact Lou Leftwich at 972-241-0365 for more information.

Homebound Communion Servers
Volunteers are needed to deliver the sacrament to our Homebound Members. The time required may be as short as one hour per month, or up to three hours, depending on your availability, the location of the Homebound Member, and the number of Homebound persons you choose to serve. Those who currently participate as Homebound Communion Servers find this to be a very satisfying way to extend the ministry of Walnut Hill to those no longer able to attend worship.

Please contact Kaye Cook at kaye@whumc.com or 214-357-5656, x228. A brief training session can be arranged to equip you to serve.

Drivers Needed
Some of our church members are not able to drive themselves to church or to doctor appointments or the pharmacy; we need volunteers to assist them in getting there.  Please specify what time of day, morning, afternoon, or evening, you are able to help.  Contact Kaye Cook 214.357.5656 x228 to be put on the list.
